The company set up an Excel spreadsheet designed to track each manager's progress. The spreadsheet system created several challenges:
Solution: Exactivate.com developed a custom web-based application using ASP.NET 2.0 technology and C# with a SQL Server back-end. The managers use the primary module to record all interactions with potential employees. In addition, managers may schedule events and tasks in the system, which are saved to a companywide calendar. To address duplication of recruiting efforts, the system is synchronized weekly with a professional association's membership list. The membership list serves as the entire candidate pool for the professional services company. Managers may only add candidates from the master pool. If a manager wants to add a candidate that is not part of the master pool, an approval workflow was implemented to ensure the manager is not attempting to add a candidate that is already part of the system or the master pool.
